Patriots Win Opener!September 15, 2009 12:03 pm
What a game last night! I was almost destined to the game being an opening loss for our Patriots then Brady leads one of the better comebacks I have ever seen. 2 TD's thrown to Benjamin Watson in less than a 2 minute time span was just incredible. Of course the bonehead play made by the Bills kick returner did help out. Here are some thoughts i have on this game. When it comes to the pass offense, what is there really to say that is not obvious? During the first half of the game, they certainly looked like they were not really on the same page. The timing was just not there and that led to some missed opportunities that should be completions in the future. Once, the timing is back in sync between Brady and Moss and Welker they should put up some great numbers. Even with the problems in the first half, Brady still threw for 378 yards with Moss getting about 140 receiving yards and Welker getting just over 90 receiving yards. Imagine what it would have been like if they were in sync last night. Brady could have had over 400 yards passing with Welker and Moss well over 100 receiving yards each. It does not look like there is anything to worry about in the passing game. Additionally, with Kevin Faulk catching passes out of the backfield, that can only add to our passing offense. He also looked pretty good rushing as well. I do not know about Laurence Maroney yet, but the season is young. Kevin Faulk and Fred Taylor both looked pretty good last night though. People are giving the defense grief this morning, but they really did not play that poorly. When you think about it, the defense only gave up 17 points. Seven of the Bills points are squarely on Tom Brady. That may not be greatest but it is certainly respectable. Also, this is their first game since they lost Mike Vrabel, Tedy Bruschhi, Richard Seymour, and Rodney Harrison. They also had to play over half the game without Jered Mayo. If you put any defense in this position, they are bound to struggle to some degree. In reality, with all the previously mentioned, the Pats defense really did do fairly well, at least good enough to get the win. I thought that Vince Wilfork was about to be credited with a sack for a safety based on intentional grounding by Trent Edwards in the end zone when I saw the yellow flags fly. When I heard the call of low hit on the QB, I am sure I was almost as surprised as Wilfork was. Speaking of the Bills offense, there really was not a lot heard out of Terrell Owens last night. I believe the stat I saw was that he was thrown to 3 times, including a catch that was called back for offensive pass interference called against TO. The nice surprise of the game had to be Benjamin Watson coming up with those two great catches for TD's late in the game. Weren't people talking about him possibly being one of the cuts at the end of training camp? I am sure glad he was on our roster last night. Great game last night! Go Patriots! As all my fellow Pats fans know, we open the season this evening against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football! I predict, and hope I am proven correct, that we will have a huge win with big games by Tom Brady, Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Jered Mayo, and Burgess. In honor of To, maybe we should all have our popcorn ready. lol With the offensive weapons we have, which can put up a ton of points, I think as long as our defense plays respectably, we get the win pretty easily. What do you guys think? My predicted final score, Pats 41, Bills 20. Category: NFL Tom Brady with first pick in fantasy draftAugust 26, 2009 10:22 am
Fellow members, In a fantasy draft I have going, I chose Tom Brady with my first pick (6th pick). I think it was a good, or at least reasonable move on my part. There are a couple of reasons for my thinking here. First, and foremost, Tom Brady has so many weapons available that he cannot help but have a stellar year in my opinion. He has Randy Moss, Wes Welker, and Joey Galloway as his receivers. With all of those in, someone just has to be open. Also, I think after the year off, he will be somewhat motivated to show that he is back and 100% and have any doubters be put in their place. Do you think this was a good pick? BTW AP, Michael Turner, etc., were already taken. Category: NFL Are you ready for some football?!!August 25, 2009 12:39 pm
